Searstone began with a commitment to crafting a premier Life Plan (Continuing Care Retirement) Community—one that seamlessly blends cosmopolitan charm, natural beauty, and the peace of mind that arises from a continuum of lifelong care. Nestled in Cary, NC, in the heart of the Research Triangle, Searstone was founded as a not-for-profit community focused on enhancing well-being and quality of life for residents through exceptional services, meaningful social engagement, and a responsive, mission-driven approach to care.
The original development of Searstone was completed in November 2013, offering residents a choice of independent living options, from modern apartment homes to estate-style residences, all designed for comfort, elegance, and community connection. As a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC), it provided—and continues to provide—the invaluable assurance of a full continuum of care: Independent Living, Assisted Living, Skilled Nursing, and Memory Support—tightly integrated so residents can age in place with virtually no dramatic increase in rates, even as health needs evolve.
Building on this strong foundation, Phase 2 of the community was completed in 2024. This expansion added 149 additional Independent Living apartments, a guest suite, multiple dining venues, a performing arts room, and an underground parking garage. It also introduced 15 Assisted Living units, 14 Memory Care units, and 24 Skilled Nursing beds, further strengthening the continuum of care. Campus enhancements included new green spaces, landscaping improvements, and renovations to the Winston Clubhouse—creating an environment that is as inviting as it is supportive.
Searstone also offers a remarkable range of residential styles. From estate homes with garages and sunrooms to lake-view flats, Calais Terrace, Lorraine Plaza, and Clubhouse homes adjacent to the Winston Clubhouse, among others, residents can select the ideal setting for their lifestyle. Over a decade since its inception, Searstone continues to thrive as a vibrant Life Plan community where curiosity, connection, and culture flourish. It’s a place where days shift from “have-to-do” to “want-to-do”—full of friends, purposeful activity, and stability in the years ahead.
