Enso Village: A New Paradigm in Sustainable Senior Living

In a notable stride towards sustainable living and holistic community design, Enso Village, a Kendal Affiliate celebrated its grand opening in July 2024. After a phased opening beginning in November 2023, it is currently above 60% occupancy.

 

Sponsored by Kendal and the San Francisco Zen Center, this Zen-inspired Life Plan Community is the first of its kind in the United States. With a blend of Quaker and Zen Buddhist values, Enso Village embodies a vision wherein ecological responsibility and human well-being coexist harmoniously.

 

Nestled amidst one of Northern California’s most charming wine-country towns, Healdsburg, its innovative campus has been meticulously designed to integrate green technologies and sustainable practices into everyday life. From energy-efficient buildings to waste reduction systems, every facet of Enso Village reflects its commitment to reducing its carbon footprint. The bond issuance for Enso Village represented the first Green Bond financing of a Life Plan Community, a designation earned on the basis of reduced carbon emissions, planned construction material and food recycling, and other sustainable aspects of construction.

 

Beyond its green credentials, Enso Village is designed with social sustainability in mind. The layout encourages communal interactions, with shared spaces such as gardens, a communal kitchen, and a wellness center fostering a sense of community and collaboration among residents.

 

The opening ceremony, attended by local dignitaries and environmental advocates, highlighted the importance of this vision as a model for future developments. Speakers praised Enso Village for its innovative approach and expressed hope that it will inspire similar initiatives across the country.

As Enso Village continues welcoming residents, the eyes of the sustainable living community will be on this pioneering project. The success of Enso Village and its sister community in Southern California, Enso Verde, could well influence how future communities are designed, offering a blueprint for integrating ecological responsibility with a vibrant, connected lifestyle.

Introducing The Highview at SearStone

Located in the heart of Cary, North Carolina, SearStone blends luxury with exceptional care, offering a vibrant and enriching environment for its residents.

 

The opening of The Highview at SearStone in February 2024 marked a significant milestone in upscale retirement living and highlighted SearStone’s commitment to seamless integration of quality care and refined living. This Phase 2 expansion was more than 95% pre-sold and reached 80% occupancy within its first few months. The expansion includes 149 independent living, 14 memory care, 14 assisted living, and 24 skilled nursing units.

Meet the Team: Dylan Redig

As the newest addition to the Greenbrier team, Dylan joined our Planning & Finance Group as a Senior Associate in April 2024. Dylan previously worked as a Financial Analyst at Houlihan Lokey in the Transaction Advisory Services group and an M&A Analyst for ERIKS. He was responsible for supporting clients throughout the transaction lifecycle on both buy- and sell-side transactions. Dylan holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and a master’s degree in accountancy from Southern Methodist University. His passion for innovative solutions and dedication to excellence align strongly with Greenbrier’s values, and we are excited to bring his expertise to future projects.
