Greenbrier’s management team are long-time national leaders in the planning, development, marketing and management of senior living communities. Over the past 22 years, they have been involved in the planning, development and marketing of more than $2 billion of senior living communities across the country with project budgets ranging from $10 million to more than $200 million.

Mike Gilliam - Greenbrier Development President and CEOMike Gilliam, President and Chief Executive Officer

Mike Gilliam is responsible for providing strategic direction to Greenbrier’s clients in the areas of planning, development, financing and marketing. Mr. Gilliam has been in senior housing since 1990 and has worked with more than 400 clients over this time. Mr. Gilliam founded Greenbrier in 2006, along with Tom Navin, with the goal of providing the best client service and objective advice. Prior to forming Greenbrier, Mr. Gilliam was a Senior Vice President at another national senior housing company since 1990 and served various roles in the planning and development of approximately 30 senior living communities. He also led the new business development. Prior to 1990, Mr. Gilliam was a consultant at Deloitte and Touche. He earned an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin.

Tom Navin - Executive Vice President and COO - Greenbrier DevelopmentTom Navin, Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President

Tom Navin is responsible for coordination of all aspects of Greenbrier’s development team, including entitlements, site logistics, design, and construction related activities. Mr. Navin co-founded Greenbrier in 2006 with Mike Gilliam after working for another national senior housing development firm for six years, where he was responsible for coordination of the full range of development services for his clients. Prior to 2000, Mr. Navin was a Development Project Manager where he was responsible for the planning and development of 20 senior living communities and two prototype designs. He also has 22 years of architectural, construction, and development experience. Mr. Navin received a bachelor’s degree in Architecture from the University of Illinois and is a registered architect in the State of Texas.

Cole Gray - Executive Vice President - Greenbrier DevelopmentCole Gray, Executive Vice President

Cole Gray is responsible for the coordination of planning and consulting services for clients as well as the coordination of financing activities. He has worked with more than 100 senior living clients in his twelve plus years in senior housing development and consulting. Prior to his work in senior housing, Mr. Gray was a management consultant for Navigant Consulting and Gibson & Associates, Inc. Mr. Gray received a bachelor’s degree in Finance from the University of Illinois.

Barry Johnson - Senior Vice President of MarketingBarry Johnson, Senior Vice President of Marketing

Barry Johnson joined Greenbrier in May 2006 and is responsible for leading the marketing and sales organization and has been instrumental in distinguishing Greenbrier as an industry leader in this regard. Under Mr. Johnson’s leadership and amidst the recent economic turndown, Greenbrier clients have enjoyed excellent results in presales and occupancy growth, even in troubled markets. Mr. Johnson has more than 20 years’ experience in senior housing, having previously worked for Vi (formerly Classic Residences by Hyatt) and Erickson. He received a bachelor’s degree in Finance from the University of Maryland and an MBA from Michigan State University.

Stephen Young - Chief Financial Officer and Chief Administrative Officer - Greenbrier DevelopmentStephen Young, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Administrative Officer

Stephen Young joined Greenbrier as part of the initial management team, responsible for implementing and managing all Financial Reporting, Treasury, HR, IT and general administrative functions for Greenbrier as well as all cost reporting for client accounting. Prior to joining Greenbrier, Mr. Young was Chief Financial Officer for Home Corporation International (HCI), responsible for establishing and directing all financial and administrative functions for a start-up encompassing five entities. Mr. Young was also an independent financial and management consultant for small businesses in the Houston area and previously gained 10 years experience in the senior housing industry as Director of Finance with Marriott and as Controller for National Guest Homes, Inc. Mr. Young received a bachelor’s degree in Finance from Southern Methodist University and an Executive MBA from the University of Houston.

Adam Heffernan -First Vice President of Planning and Finance- Greenbrier DevelopmentAdam Heffernan, First Vice President of Planning and Finance

Adam Heffernan has spent more than 10 years working with senior housing organizations to plan and develop successful projects. Mr. Heffernan is responsible for the coordination of planning and consulting services for Greenbrier’s clients, including project-specific business planning, organizational strategic planning, coordination of financing activities for development projects and other aspects of project development. Prior to beginning his career in senior housing development in 2001, he was a consultant with Peterson Consulting and Barrington Consulting, both divisions of Navigant Consulting, where he provided financial advisory services to clients involved in litigation and other disputes. Mr. Heffernan received a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a master’s degree in Finance from Texas A&M University.

Brian Devlin - Vice President of Development - Greenbrier DevelopmentBrian Devlin, Vice President of Development

Brian Devlin provides development related project management services to Greenbrier’s clients. Such services include assessment, acquisition, and zoning of prospective sites, engagement of project consultants, drafting the architectural program, coordination and evaluation of the design and construction cost estimates, and oversight of construction activities. Mr. Devlin has provided services on a variety of project types from luxury startup communities to modest renovations and expansion projects on existing campuses. Mr. Devlin has been a professional in senior living development since 2002. Prior to that, Mr. Devlin was an associate at an architectural firm that designed and developed country clubs throughout the United States. Mr. Devlin earned a bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Texas Tech University.

Gene Hooton - Vice President of Development - Greenbrier DevelopmentGene Hooton, Vice President of Development

Gene Hooton has been developing senior living communities since 2004, with experience in the design, development and construction aspects of numerous CCRC projects, including several new construction high rise communities. He joined Greenbrier in February 2008, and is currently managing several new construction projects across the country, as well as several projects dealing with redevelopment and expansions of current campuses. Mr. Hooton’s previous professional experience was as a developer in the multifamily industry, managing the design and construction of numerous luxury apartment communities across the country from 1999 to 2004. Mr. Hooton attended the School of Architecture and received a bachelor’s degree in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin.

Nancy May - Vice President of Marketing - Greenbrier DevelopmentNancy May, Vice President of Marketing

Nancy May joined Greenbrier in 2010. Her experience in the senior living industry spans more than 20 years and encompasses practical, on-site experience and responsibility for creating, administering, and managing marketing campaigns, as well as managing the marketing efforts of multiple communities and marketing teams simultaneously. During this time, Ms. May has become well-versed with start-ups, expansions, and census-challenged communities for single-site and system providers and includes success in marketing assisted living, skilled nursing, and hospice services. Nancy’s knowledge and experience provides Greenbrier clients the edge they need to improve their processes and achieve their goals. Nancy holds a bachelor’s degree in Marketing.

Margaret Gebhart- Vice President of Marketing - Greenbrier DevelopmentMargaret Gebhart, Vice President of Marketing

Margaret Gebhart joined Greenbrier in January 2011. She has 15 years of experience in the Senior Housing industry. Most recently, Ms. Gebhart spent four years in the not-for-profit arena as Senior Manager with the responsibility of increasing census in six CCRC communities in several states. Prior to that she worked in the for-profit arena for ten years – with six years as Regional Marketing Director in charge of twelve communities in the Mid- Atlantic Region. Ms. Gebhart was the Executive Director for a start- up community in Louisiana for two years and Executive Director at a Community in Texas for two years as well. She worked in the Real Estate industry for ten years as a licensed Realtor working for Remax and Coldwell Banker. Ms. Gebhart has a bachelor’s degree in Marketing from Cameron University in Oklahoma.

Devin Anderson-Vice President of Planning and Finance- Greenbrier DevelopmentDevin Anderson, Vice President of Planning and Finance

Devin Anderson spent more than five years working in the national senior housing development industry before joining Greenbrier. Mr. Anderson is responsible for the coordination of strategic planning and consulting services for clients as well as the coordination of financing activities. Prior to joining the senior housing industry in 2005, he worked for Ernst & Young where he provided financial services for clients. Mr. Anderson received a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Brigham Young University and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a master’s degree in Real Estate from the University of Texas at Arlington. In addition, Mr. Anderson received a graduate certificate in Property Repositioning and Turnaround Strategies from the University of Texas at Arlington.

Tony Teague-Assistant Assistant Vice President of Development- Greenbrier DevelopmentTony Teague, Assistant Vice President of Development

Tony Teague is responsible for the planning, coordination, and development of projects from conception to completion. Prior to joining Greenbrier Development, Mr. Teague spent 10 years with Seneca Investments, a Dallas based Real Estate Development Company. He was responsible for the overall planning and construction of a variety of projects, including luxury high-rise condominiums, commercial and medical office buildings, and multi-family communities. Before joining Seneca, Mr. Teague worked for Ridgemont Commercial Construction as an Estimator and Project Manager. He is a LEED Green Associate and earned a bachelor’s degree in Finance from Texas Tech University.

Scott Kaufman- Senior Associate- Greenbrier DevelopmentScott Kaufman, Senior Associate

Scott Kaufman spent more than three years as a financial analyst for Behringer Harvard, a commercial real estate company before joining Greenbrier in January of 2011. Mr. Kaufman is responsible for the coordination of strategic planning and consulting services for clients as well as the coordination of financing activities. At Behringer Harvard, he was involved in over $2 billion of loan originations, modifications, and restructurings. He also prepared financial earnings models for the company’s sponsored public non-traded REITs. Mr. Kaufman received a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Texas.

Nick Roberts- Development Accountant- Greenbrier DevelopmentNick Roberts, Development Accountant

Nick Roberts is responsible for handling the cost reports as well as draw facilitation for Greenbrier’s development clients. He also assists with all of Greenbrier’s daily accounting. During his collegiate career, Mr. Roberts worked in the accounting and finance departments for AmerisourceBergen Specialty Group, as well as spent time as a consultant for RWH Myers working on loss accounting and business interruption cases for a variety of clients. He earned his bachelor’s degree in 2010 and his Master of Science in Accounting in 2011, both from Southern Methodist University. Mr. Roberts is currently working towards attaining his CPA certification.

Morgan LaCombe- Office Manager and Marketing Coordinator - Greenbrier DevelopmentMorgan LaCombe, Office Manager and Marketing Coordinator

Morgan LaCombe has been the Office Manager for Greenbrier since April 2011. She is responsible for day-to-day operations to ensure the office runs smoothly. Ms. LaCombe also helps with corporate marketing, coordinating conferences, event planning, and market research. Prior to joining Greenbrier, Ms. LaCombe spent over 5 years as an administrative assistant for a wardrobe consulting company in Fort Worth, Texas where she worked directly with the owner of the company and was responsible for all the company’s marketing, scheduling, client communications, event planning, documenting and more. Morgan received a Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising with a Business Minor from Texas Christian University in 2006.
